A late defensive error has seen the Whittlesea Ranges let 3 points slip from the grasp of their hands and allowed newly demoted North Geelong Warriors to claim a 1-1 draw against a frustrated Ranges outfit.
The afternoon started out as a very much so game for defenders and midfielders as both teams forwards really struggled to find space and produce on target shots to their respective goal keepers. It was the Ranges however that broke free of the error filled game and started to produce some key attacking passages the piled pressure on North Geelong’s defense and goal keeper.
It wasnt until the 30 minute mark when Whittlesea’s Chris Talajic broke the deadlock after a clever tap in the flew pass the Warriors goal keeper. The game switched in the Ranges favor for the rest of the half as they continued goal pressure with shots on target, but to the Warriors defense and goal keeping they managed to keep the game 1-0 at the break.
A very non eventful second half eventually breathed life in the 80th minute mark when the Warriors loyal travelling supporter base found their voice trying to lift their side for the final 10 minutes. This proved a success when a crucial Ranges error allowed North Geelong to put the ball in the back of the net and walk away with a critical point away from home.
The draw leaves the Ranges with 1 point and winless after two rounds.
